Part sculpture, part light source. Its indirect, reflected light behaves more like a small architectural element than a typical table lamp, warming a room without glare. The glow shifts with angle and dimming, and changes as daylight progresses. The cellulose acetate reflector carries light in layers, creating subtle gradients and depth.
The reflector begins as layered cellulose acetate, a plant-derived material made from wood pulp and cotton. Shaped by heat into its final form, the material’s internal patterning stretches and compresses, leaving natural variation in tone, density, and depth. When lit, those layers come forward in subtle gradients with infinite variation. No two are the same.
Built to order in our facility, TL-1 begins with a cast base poured in the studio, then is assembled by hand. Each lamp is finished, tested, and inspected individually, with close attention to fit, feel, and function. Components are brought together with attention to fit, finish, and the tactile details.
